Selma Remembrance Walk Amsterdam, March 21-25
To remember the march from Selma to Montgomery, from March 21-25, 1965, on these days a 5 circular walks of the exact same length, 54 miles, will be made in Amsterdam. It will lead you through 15 parks and along places that are connected to Dr. King, racism, and the slavery history. The 5 walks of 10-12 miles start in the Martin Luther King Park in Amsterdam. Day 1: Walk Center - 10.6 miles
Day 2: Walk West - 10.3 mi (10.6 - 20.9 miles)
Day 3: Walk East - 10.0 mi (20.9 - 30.9 miles)
Day 4: Walk Southeast - 12.4 mi (30.9 - 43.3 miles)
Day 5: Walk Southwest - 10.7 mi (43.3 - 54 miles)
Om de mars van Selma naar Montgomery te herdenken, die plaatsvond van 21 t/m 25 maart 1965, worden er op deze dagen in Amsterdam vanuit het Martin Luther Kingpark 5 rondwandelingen (16-20 km) gelopen, samen precies de afstand van de mars van Selma naar Montgomery: 87 km.
